Together Beauty Whatever Wherever Leave

10 Chemo Essentials: How to Build a Wardrobe for Hair Loss

When hair starts growing back, it often happens in uneven patches. I had so little hair at first that I didnt need to use a styling product at all for a while, and when I finally had enough hair to style, I didnt need a lot of product to do the job.

My stylist recommended another Together Beauty product, Whatever Wherever, which is a leave-in conditioner but does double duty as a light-hold styling product. Many women find that their hair is a different texture than it previously was when it grows back after chemo you may have seen this phenomenon described as chemo curls. Whatever Wherever was the only styling product I needed for the first year or so of regrowth, and it kept my curls well-maintained and under control.

Together Beauty Wash & Co Co

In the interest of keeping it simple when you have enough hair to wash but its still pretty minimal, using one co-washing product instead of a separate shampoo and conditioner is an easy and efficient option. When I was going through this phase, one option recommended to me by my hairstylist was a cleansing conditioner called Wash & Co by Together Beauty, a haircare line created by the owner of the salon I go to.

5. Cozy Socks

A cancer patient going through chemotherapy has to sit still for a large amount of time. They are also more susceptible to the cold, so a trusted pair of warm bed socks is a nice comforting chemo gift. And even if the chemo treatment doesn’t make them cold, they can give a comfy, pampering feeling which may be needed.

6. Hats

Hats are another great way to ensure cancer patients will stay warm during treatment. When you shop for a hat, make sure that it is made of a gentle fabric. But remember that not everyone who has chemo treatment loses their hair, so you might just want to buy a hat as a gift for warmth and not hair loss. Plus hair loss can be a sensitive subject, so make sure this is the correct thing to buy. Check with the cancer patient or the people who are close to them first.

7. Scarves

Scarves are another good gift for chemo patients, to help keep them warm during chemo treatment. We suggest that they are small and lightweight, so they can be layered.

8. Gloves

As mentioned above chemo treatment could make patients cold and usually the first parts to feel the cold are the hands. A good gift to deal with this could be warm ‘touch-screen’ friendly gloves that will still allow phone usage.

9. Cardigans/Jumpers

Cardigans are another good gift idea for chemo patients, especially as they can be taken on and off when needed. Opt for soft, gentle natural fabrics as opposed to heavy, itchy knits.

10. Slippers

Reviews From Real Customers

I purchased the Gabi hat and received it on June 21, 2022. When I tried on the hat, I was not impressed with the fit. I couldnt secure a tight enough fit and the Velcro kept getting tangled in my hair.

I have thick curly hair. I decided to return the hat, since it didnt fit correctly. After a night of mulling it over, I decided to make some adjustments to the hat. Here are the issues and what I did to make the hat fit better.

Incorrect placement of Velcro I removed the Velcro and switched their placement. The hook side of the Velcro should be on the left tab and the loop side should be on the right tab. -This now alleviated the problem of the Velcro getting caught in my hair.

Moisturizing Lozenges And Spray Would Work Too

Unfortunately one of the hardest side effects to deal with are mouth sores. They are painful and can make it difficult to eat and drink. For that reason this is another item close to the top of our helpful items to include in chemo care packages.

I personally never developed mouth sores but have talked with many who have and it was awful for them. At some point though during my treatment, it became almost too painful to brush my teeth. Again I had severe skin sensitivity. So I used the moisturizing mouthwash 3 to 5 times a day and the gel as well. My mouth was just in a constant state of dryness no matter how much water I drank.

Keeping your mouth moisturized helps so much with comfort. If you do develop mouth sores, please, call your oncologist right away. They can prescribe a mouth rise to help ease the pain of the mouth sores.

Here Are Our Best Gift Ideas For A Chemotherapy Patient

Useful Gifts For Cancer Patients

Best Skin Care Products For Cancer Patients | Alchimie Forever

One of Dr Fiona’s most-asked questions is what to buy someone going through cancer treatment. But while it can be tempting to treat someone to spa-like bath oils and divinely-scented body creams, she advises steering well clear.

“All cancer treatments including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy have the potential to leave skin dry, sensitive and red so the last thing you want to do is irritate it further with alcohol, essential oils and fragrance,” explains Dr Fiona.

If they like fragrance, she suggests a scented candle or a diffuser as a more practical alternative.

“Some chemotherapy drugs can make hands and feet more sensitive to the cold and cause extreme tingling. A gift of warm gloves and socks is always a welcome one to combat these symptoms.

“Another sensible gift is to upload some new books or a film onto someone’s tablet. Simple distractions, like these, can help to pass the time more pleasantly while they’re waiting around during treatment.

“Silk or cotton headscarves and turbans are an excellent choice for patients suffering from sensitive scalps following hair loss. I’ve also recently come across The Cancer Care Parcel an excellent company that puts together hampers based on age, gender and interests. It takes advice from cancer patients on the items they’ve genuinely found useful during their journey,” Dr Fiona adds.

I’ve Created My Chemotherapy Complete Skin Care Kit To Help Keep The Skin Of Cancer Patients Healthy During Treatment And I Donate All Of The Profits To Cancer Advocacy

My kit is the result of using my own chemo experience as a laboratory. I can give back to other cancer patients undergoing chemo after me by helping you to have healthy skin that resists infections, discomfort and suffering. I also can give back by donating the proceeds to the organization that helped me so much during my cancer treatment, FORCE, the advocacy organization for those of us with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer gene mutations.

The work of FORCE actually benefits all cancer patients because those of us who have these horrible cancer genes are ‘canaries in the mine shaft’ for cancer research. What scientists learn on us helps everyone at risk for these cancers because we are, unfortunately, the ideal experimental population for research given our tragic predisposition to the cancers. FORCE is really there for all of us touched by cancer.

Effectiveness Of Magic Mouthwash

Magic mouthwash may help treat a sore mouth and ease mucositis symptoms. A doctor may also recommend it to help prevent mouth sores.

Its difficult to know how well it works, though. In some cases, other treatments for mouth sores may work better.

According to a 2015 study, a treatment called oral cryotherapy may be better for some people, because it doesnt usually cause side effects. This treatment uses cold therapy to treat infected or irritated areas in the mouth.

A small 2015 study found that morphine mouthwash may be better than magic mouthwash at treating mouth sores. The study subjects included 30 adults who were being treated for head and neck cancer. More research is needed to confirm the results.

A 2011 study compared magic mouthwash with 0.15 percent benzydamine hydrochloride. Benzydamine hydrochloride is a medication that helps bring down inflammation, swelling, and pain.

The researchers concluded that magic mouthwash was just as effective as the 0.15 percent benzydamine hydrochloride in helping prevent the development of mouth sores in people undergoing radiotherapy for head and neck cancer.

In addition to morphine mouthwash and 0.15 percent benzydamine hydrochloride, other possible treatments for mouth sores include:

  • chlorhexidine mouthwash, which is only available by prescription
  • calcium phosphate rinse
  • a rinse made with baking soda and salt
  • MuGard, an oral gel that may be swallowed or swished around in the mouth like a mouthwash
