Who Is Part Of The Masumi Team

An everlasting enthusiasm drives Masumi Headwear, thanks to its incredibly devoted team. Our founder, Ali Nowroozi works in collaboration with the University of Salford. Through this partnership, he recruits many bright students. Together they craft and innovative. Our dedication has led to our close-knit team reaching a global community. Prior to launching the business in 2015, Ali worked in the wig headwear industry for 11 years. While doing so, he realized the vulnerability of cancer patients. At the time, he only saw unexciting headwear designs, solely for practicality. Ali yearned to create a superior alternative. Hence, the idea to launch a range of fashionable headwear materialized. Losing hair loss to cancer is a personal story to Ali, who takes huge inspiration from his wife, Anna. At age 14, she had a diagnosis of Hodgkin lymphoma. Thus, they both understand how hair loss knocks confidence and leaves emotional scars.

Hats For Cancer Patients

Hats Scarves & More

Unless the hat is made of extremely soft materials, youll likely want to wear a wig cap, sleeping cap or scarf underneath, to protect your scalp from irritation. Sleep caps and wig caps can be purchased through a number of retailers and online. If you opt to wear a scarf under your hat, choose one thats made of cotton silks can be too slippery.

How To Find Your Correct Head Size

1. Measure Circumference.

Start in front at your natural hairline and follow to nape of neck in back and all the way around to starting point.

2. Measure Front to Back.

With hair lying flat, measure from natural hairline in front, over your head and to the nape of neck.

3. Measure Side to Side.

Start in front of ear where hairline ends. Bring tape measure over head to front of other ear.

Cool Caps Are Not For Everyone

A cool cap is not appropriate for patients with advanced-stage cancers that have metastasized. There is a remote chance stray cancer cells have escaped to the scalp and if the area is cooled, the scalp could harbor these cells. Moreover, it is thought once chemo is complete, cancer cells could move and grow elsewhere. Likewise, cold caps are not suitable for blood cancers such as leukemia because cancer is circulating throughout the body. People undergoing continuous chemotherapy over several days cannot use cold caps because it is impractical to keep the scalp cold for such a long duration.

What Should I Do

Some cooling cap systems, such as DigniCap, Paxman, and Amma, have been cleared for use by the US Food and Drug Administration . Some older types of scalp hypothermia devices can be rented or purchased online, and some cancer treatment facilities in the US allow patients to use them.

If you are considering whether to use scalp hypothermia, its important to carefully weigh the potential benefits, discomforts, and risks . Discuss the pros and cons of this option with your cancer treatment doctor. You might also want to ask if the treatment center has experience in using cooling caps and how successful they have been.

Another consideration might be cost. Older types of caps are generally not covered by insurance, and its not yet clear if the use of newer, computer-controlled systems will be covered, either. Its important to check with your insurance company to see what might be covered before starting your treatment.

Benefits Of Chemo Headwear And Headscarves

If you are losing or have lost your hair because of cancer treatments, then you may choose to cover your head with a scarf, wrap, cap, or turban. Many people in this situation select headwear for numerous reasons, including:

  • To keep loose hair from collecting in unwanted places. As you shed hair, it will naturally collect on your pillow, in your sink, on the floor, and on your clothes all the places that you dont want it. You can eliminate this issue by using a head wrap of some type.
  • To look and feel their best. If you want to rock a bald head, go for it! Today, people are more accepting than ever of each others differences . However, many women do find that they feel more comfortable with an attractive head covering instead, and thats completely fine, too.
  • To stay warmer. Especially at night, during the winter, or in an air-conditioned room, you may find that your new lack of hair makes you feel colder than you are accustomed to. Until your tresses fill back in, keeping your head covered can help you stay warmer and comfier.

How Might It Work

The theory behind scalp hypothermia is that the cooling tightens up or constricts blood vessels in the scalp. This constriction is thought to reduce the amount of chemo that reaches the cells of the hair follicles. The cold also decreases the activity of the hair follicles and makes them less attractive to chemo, which targets rapidly dividing cells. This could reduce the effect of chemo on the follicle cells and, as a result, prevent or reduce hair loss from the scalp.

Reviews From Real Customers

I purchased the Gabi hat and received it on June 21, 2022. When I tried on the hat, I was not impressed with the fit. I couldnt secure a tight enough fit and the Velcro kept getting tangled in my hair.

I have thick curly hair. I decided to return the hat, since it didnt fit correctly. After a night of mulling it over, I decided to make some adjustments to the hat. Here are the issues and what I did to make the hat fit better.

Incorrect placement of Velcro I removed the Velcro and switched their placement. The hook side of the Velcro should be on the left tab and the loop side should be on the right tab. -This now alleviated the problem of the Velcro getting caught in my hair.
