Dr. Bruckner oversaw the Radiography program as curricular changes provided graduates with more specialized clinical experiences. The Radiography graduating class of 2004 was the first group to enhance their education by choosing to study CT, MRI, mammography, VIR, Quality management, management, or education.

In 2007, Dr. Evans accepted the first BS degree candidates into the newly created courses of study in Diagnostic Medical Sonography/Vascular Technology and Radiation Therapy.

Kent State University Salem Campus

Kent State University at East Liverpool and Kent State University at Salem compose Kent State Universitys regional Columbiana County campus which offers 26 degrees, including 12 bachelors degrees across the two sites.

Kent State Salem is located just south of the city on a 100-acre campus featuring ponds and nature trails. The campus recently added a multi-million-dollar Health and Science Wing, complete with modern classrooms and a new radiologic and imaging sciences laboratory.

KSU at Salem offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Radiologic and Imaging Services Technology with majors in 4 concentrations. One available concentration is Radiation Therapy and there are two possible pathways for a student to follow. The first pathway starts with Radiologic Technology before moving onto Radiation Therapy. The second pathway is a full concentration in Radiation Therapy and is better suited to students without a previous background in radiologic technology.

Application to the program takes place in the junior year. It is competitive and based upon a points system linked to previous academic performance. The number of places is dependent upon the availability of clinical rotation experiences. Typically around half of the applicants are offered a place in the program which is fully accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology and approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists .

CCACs Certificate in Radiation Technology program has a selective admissions process that ensures only the best students are accepted. The number of students admitted depends on factors like the availability of clinical sites.

Candidates must possess the following minimum credentials to be considered:

  • With an associate degree from a JRCERT-accredited school in diagnostic radiography and
  • With an ARRT certification in diagnostic radiography TR with an 80% or better score or with said certification and current employment for at least one year

Radiologist assistants, radiologic technologists, nuclear medicine practitioners, radiation therapists, and fusion imaging technicians must all pass the appropriate state or national exam in order to practice in Ohio.
